VIVAnews - Governor of Jakarta, Fauzi Bowo, announced plan to maximize the 2011 Regional Budget for developing Mass Rapid Transit. The allocated fund for implementing the MRT system development will be set at Rp 2.53 trillion.
According to Fauzi, in line with Gubernatorial Regulation No.103/2007 on Macro Transport Scheme (PTM), the plan is aimed at alleviating the number of people using private automobiles.
The budget will also be shared for land acquisition. Fauzi believed that the MRT project will finish on time by 2016.
The MRT construction, he said, will be integrating other means of tranport such as trains, transjakarta, taxis, tollroads, and electronic road pricing (ERP).
The Jakarta administration is ready to purchase landplots in Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta, and Bunderan HI, Central Jakarta, spanning in length at 15.5 kilometers.
Six underground stations will be available at several spots like Masjid Al-Azhar, Ratu Plaza, Bendungan Hilir, Setiabudi, Dukuh Atas and Bunderah Hotel Indonesia. In addition, seven elevated shelters will be placed in Lebakbulus, Fatmawati, Cipete Raya, H Nawi, Blok M and Sisingamangaraja.
